[Magdalen] What are we reading?

Ok...it's amazing what I learn here!  I had actually never noticed the spelling before and understood from the context that it was referring to the height of the mountain.
OTOH, having two different spellings for the two meanings makes good sense, something English often lacks!

Merton was schooled in France or Switzerland, IIRC. While I
admire his later work, I will never be a fan.
