Sherry hour. I once attended a church where the post-service gathering in
the undercroft wasn't called "coffee hour," but "sherry hour." $2.50 a
glass.
At some point someone realized that you can't sell alcohol without a
license,
so they went to a free-will offering. The p-i-c and an associate went to
rehab.
(The poor associate had the shakes so bad at one 6:00 mass he had to ask
the acolyte to distribute.) The interim did away with sherry hour for Lent
and
it didn't come back until they hired a new rector.
