A friend who lives in Back Bay said Boston is working 4 "snow melters" machines that melt snow and direct the resulting water to the treatment plant. Full of chemicals because of road treatment pre snow / ice. Lots have changed in 40 years

Boston has been trying to figure out where to put all the snow - maybe they should send it to BC?

Vancouver and south western BC has had a warmer than usual winter so far -- even for here. The current temperature is 9C or 48F with a high expected to be 10C or 50F today. This will continue through the next week, with the addition of some long awaited sunshine.

This sounds good, but it has difficult economic implications. The ski areas around here, even Whistler/Blackcomb (which are at a much higher elevation) are really suffering. We've had plenty of precipitation but almost all of it rain, even at higher elevations. All of the local mountains are closed because of lack of snow.

However, there are advantages. The croci are up and spring is on its way -- a bit earlier than usual. Easter will be wonderful with all the trees and flowers at their best.

love and blessings
Susan
