[Magdalen] Pickling update (as usual, Hey Jay!).

>From a 3x5 card on the refrigerator door.:

in a saucepan, combine
1 cup white wine vinegar
1 cup water
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp. white pepper
1 Tbs. pickling spice


bring to a simmer
allow to cool

pour through a seive into a jar containing six hard-boiled eggs (shelled)
and a small white onion, peeled & sliced thin

cover and refrigerate
(if not enough liquid to cover the eggs, top up with more white vinegar
right out of the bottle

PS: I use the exact same recipe for pickled beets
and halve the sugar and add dill and a scrubbed bay leaf for jardienere
