I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord! --Psalm 27

(Dreamed of by Bill and read by him to a group gathered at Henry Ford hospital in Detroit, June 30, 1999)

Jeanie emerged from surgery at Henry Ford Hospital about 4:30 this afternoon--three hours after beginning a second brain surgery on a second tumor. This one, on the left side, was about the size of an orange and was 85-90% removed by Doctor Rock. The doctor suggested that the surgery would now make radiation therapy more effective, should Bill and Jeanie decide to move in that direction. That decision is mostly likely to be made within the next three weeks.

But all present rejoiced in the knowledge that today's work was complete and was successful.

There was evidence, however, that growth of the original tumor on the right side has continued beneath the core of the original surgery, although that basic tumor field was still presumed clear after the surgery of nine months ago and subsequent non-radiation therapy.

With Bill gathered in the hospital chapel for the afternoon were family and friends who prayed and sang amid quiet reflection. Keep the family in prayers this week; Jeanie will likely return home on Friday or Saturday.
