THE ANGLICAN CHURCH in the UK, Ireland, and Europe is not organized according to the boundaries of modern countries. It reflects the past, and past national boundaries. For example, Wales and Scotland are part of the United Kingdom (whose monarch is the Supreme Governor of the Church of England) but their churches are independent. The Isle of Man is a self-governing Crown Dependency outside the United Kingdom but within the Church of England's Diocese of Sodor and Man. Anglican worship in these places takes place in one of the following ecclesiastical jurisdictions:
