Seasonal Resources

THE CHURCH YEAR HAS seasons. Some are penitential; some are joyful; some are long; some are short. All have names and traditions. There seem to be no special resources for 'ordinary time', the Sundays after Whitsun/Pentecost, but Advent, Epiphany, and Lent and Easter each have enough special links to warrant seasonal pages.

Advent
Preparation for the birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Epiphany
Jesus manifests himself to the Gentiles.

Lent and Easter
The 40 days of preparation for Easter, and the great feast itself.

Rogation and Ascensiontide resources: Fully Homely Divinity has collected these helpful resources on Rogation and Ascenstiontide. 'The week of the Sixth Sunday of Easter is busy with processions and outdoor activities. The week begins with prayers and celebrations that focus on stewardship of creation and culminates in the great (but lately much-neglected) Feast of the Ascension of our Lord into heaven on the fortieth day of the Paschal Feast.'

Pentecost also known as Whitsunday: Full Homely Divinity has a page on customs liturgical, culinary and dramatic in connection with the last of the great fifty days of Eastertide.
